Project: Sex differences in the epidemiology of asthma and atopy: the role of hormones.
Dr. Piush Mandhane is a MSc student in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics working with Dr. Malcolm Sears in the Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health and Dr. Steve Hanna at McMaster University. Piush completed his MD at the University of Toronto in 1997, his pediatric residency at the University of Alberta in 2001, and his fellowship in pediatric respiratory medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children in 2003. His current projects investigate the potential role sex hormones may play in explaining the increased incidence of asthma among adolescent females. In January 2005 Piush plans to enroll in the PhD program in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics. His PhD will focus on the application of hierarchical linear modelling in longitudinal studies of gender and asthma.
Current: Dr. Mandhane was recruited by the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine as Assistant Professor. Piush is also the current CCHCSP Centre Leader at the University of Alberta.
