Biography

Jean-Sébastien Joyal completed an International Baccalaureate at Lester B. Pearson College on Vancouver Island in 1995. He then went on to study medicine at McGill University and completed his MD in 2000. During his residency in Pediatrics, Dr. Joyal developed an interest for fundamental science, exploring various in vivo and molecular biology techniques related to the study of retinopathy of prematurity under the mentorship of Dr. Sylvain Chemtob. He completD a fellowship in Pediatric Intensive Care at Ste-Justine Hospital, and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology at McGill University. His first year of graduate work was supported by the Novo Nordisk / Canadian Blood Services Hemostasis Fellowship Award. Dr. Joyal’s current project will explore the angiogenic signaling mechanisms of FVIIa in a model of ischemic proliferative retinopathy.

Dr. Joyal is currently completing Postdoctoral studies at the Great Ormond Street Hospital, in London England.
