Ms. Keiko Shikako-Thomas is a PhD student beginning her third year of doctoral studies in Rehabilitation Science at McGill University under the supervision of Dr. Annette Majnemer. She obtained her BSc in Occupational Therapy from the University of São Paulo, Brazil where she became interested in the child, family and environmental attributes that may influence the social participation in children with developmental disabilities. Subsequently, Keiko began her MSc in Rehabilitation Science at the School of Physical & Occupational Therapy, McGill University and once completing her course requirements, she was then fast-tracked to the PhD where she is studying the determinants of participation in leisure activities in adolescents with cerebral palsy. She is also involved in studies that are evaluating the factors that influence the quality of life of the same population. She has received several awards of recognition as well as scholarships from the Fonds de Recherche en Sante du Quebec, the Montreal Children's Hospital Research Institute and the Canadian Child Health Clinician Scientist Program.
