Career Enhancement Program Award
Bill Gibson is a Clinician Scientist at the Child and Family Research Institute, UBC. He is supported by CIHR (Clinician Scientist Phase 2 Award), CIHR-INMD (Operating Grant), the CCHCSP (Career Enhancement Award), the CFI (Leaders Opportunities Fund) and the CFRI (Clinician Scientist Salary). He has recently established the Laboratory for Obesity Genetics and Indirect Calorimetry (LOGIC) lab at CFRI, with infrastructure for measuring energy balance in rodent models of obesity. His clinical practice is devoted to rare genetic disorders,particularly obesity disorders and lipodystrophies. As a resident in Medical Genetics at the University of Calgary, he spearheaded the Canadian arm of the world's first clinical trial of leptin replacement therapy for congenital leptin deficiency."
